Connecting to rooms

Postby Barry » January 10th, 2012, 5:39 pm

Right, I've been through the FAQ on the hax website, but I'm not very computer savvy. I've tried a couple of the ideas, but nothing seems to work.

I don't have this problem on my uni internet, just when I come home. Has anyone else fixed this for themselves?

Cheers.

I used to have the same problem when I was at home. Couldn't get port forwarding to work, but putting my laptop into DMZ did work.

You should check what router model and version you have, then search google for how to use its DMZ function. Make sure you have a good firewall running though.

I'm trying.

All that comes up is how to do it for PS3.

So annoying.

It's exactly the same process. The tutorial should show you how to select your ps3 as the DMZ. In this case, you'll just set it to the PC/Laptop you play haxball on.

Make sure your PC is set with a static I.P.

Another option is to get yourself another ADSL router; decent used ones can be had from fleabay. Ask if you want any advice on make/model types etc.

My internet at uni is fine, it's just at home. It's not a massive problem, but I'd like to hax at home as well.

I've tried the static IT and forwarding ports, but in doing some research, it looks like this router has known issues.

Cheers for trying guys :)

Go to: http://bthomehub.home

Go to Advanced Settings in the Home Hub menu
Go to Port Forwarding
Then DMZ
Enable DMZ and select the PC/Laptop you use for hax from the dropdown menu

That's what I've got from the internets. Hopefully it'll work.

When you are setting the static I.P. are you doing it in your operating system (Windows etc) settings rather than the router?

Might have to restart your router once you've done it. See if that works?

Also you could try this:

Remove all setting from your windows and allow the hub to assign you an internal ip via DHCP. I'm not familiar with the hh GUI, but you'll want to look for something like network or attached devices. When you find your device it will have an internal ip allocated by DHCP. Edit that device (might have to click on the name) - what you are looking for is something that says allocate static ip, or always use the same ip etc. This means the hh gives your device the same internal ip all the time, rather than your pc telling the hh that 'this is my ip, use it'.

Once that's done you can try using setting a dmz for your pc.

I know this is probably what you tried, but this video shows how to do it:
