The only thing which should hold back HTML over Flash in leagues is the rec function. Even if you have issues, it's not a reason not to play on HTML. I have issues on Flash and I still play it. Just because a few individuals can't play on HTML properly it shouldn't affect the competitive scene. HTML is by every single point superior to Flash, no matter what people say. If there is a record function on HTML I'll immediately abandon flash and leagues till the move is made.

Get over it.

HTML is saving a dead game by years (Number of players duplicates), since next season, all communities will switch to html (also because flashplayer version will close) so no fear html is here

We had leagues when replays didnt exist in the game (or the map 'big'). It was fine, noone died. We used screenshots on esl and it was fair, because every time there was a protest Dynamix just decided against Hungarians. It was a much simpler time.

Theres a reason why... I understand Basro, haxball is just a hobby for him as a Haxe programmer. He considered this game finished, even the smallest new feature would need months of work so instead he didnt do anything about haxball. The reason why he came back to fix the game is simple: the industry decided to let Flash go. He had two choices, shut the website down or avoid flash. We should be glad he chose the latter. By dropping RTMFP we finally dont have the 30 tick cap, which wasnt even 30 ticks but who cared...

The game became smoother, more ticks, the (client side) ticks are much closer to the server time than before, bigger resolution, better netcode, better compatibility.

Honestly, I think we should change ASAP, the sooner the better. The change gives people time to adapt. As soon as Basro is satisfied with the state of html5 haxball he will kill flash haxball off and it will be a really sad day for all the poorfags, who then have a day to find a new laptop so they can spam their way back to div1. Do yourself a favor and play on html5. I dont want to see poorfag tears when flash is ded.

apology for poor english

when were you when adobe flash dies?

i was sat at home downloading rams when teamspeak ring

‘john is kill’

‘no’

I wasn't sure about the changes so I asked Basro on reddit about the updates, he replied fast, seems like a really nice and cool dude:

Is the replay feature hard to implement? That seems like the biggest issue for us, we cant use html5 in the league since replays are the best proof of a match.

Basro wrote:Yes, it is pretty hard. It's the most complex of the remaining missing flash features. I hope I'll have it implemented sometime in december.

Is anything different in the physics of the game? Do you think the gameplay changed? We have different opinions, some say its different, some say its the same. I for one think its the same, we only feel a difference because of the much better netcode and how smooth it is.

Basro wrote:The physics are the same, I guarantee this since the code hasn't changed.

Haxball was 30 tick as far as I know, is it still 30?

Basro wrote:HaxBall internal logic has always run at 60hz, it still does in the html5 version.

Did the netcode use interpolation or something similar before? Does it now?

Basro wrote:No, there's no interpolation in the netcode now or then. Which is why you see objects immediately teleport to a different location when there's lag. Interpolation would smooth that out but I find it hurts more than it helps since it delays the information you are actually interested in (the real position of the ball).

Does html5 give you tools to better deal with latency issues?

Basro wrote:Yes, html5's WebRTC has considerable advantages over what is available in flash RTMFP.
In flash network events are handled in sync with the screen updates. Meaning that when a network message arrives it might add 1/60th of a second of additional latency before my code even gets to see it. This happened in both the host and the client so it would add about 33msecs of lag. In html5 my code is notified immediately when a new message has arrived.
There's some other advantages of webrtc, like supporting multiple data channels with different message reliability. But they aren't as significant as the message latency fix.
HaxBall netcode itself is also improved in ways unrelated to WebRTC or RTMFP, these improvements also reduce latency and make the netplay more stable when there's lag spikes or packet loss.

If Basro is at least half as good as he thinks he is, he'll finally implement recording and I'm never gonna play flash again. :P

Rulebook wrote:1.23 A replay of every game must be supplied for the result to count.
Failure to supply a replay will result in the match being valued as deflose for both teams.

Currently replays can't be saved when the room is closed or the recording player is kicked. I don't think 4v4 will switch to HTML before this is fixed, because too many games will be affected by the above rule. But maybe I'm wrong, not sure how many games in 3v3 have not had a replay so far, I'm only aware of one case.

HTML allows us to have an cleaner game and everybody can play it but in flash we have the ''pure'' haxball, best skill control and play gaming.
