2.6 In a special situation like a 4th player getting involved in the attack (mostly the GK) the 3-men-def-rule will be not applied, because it will turn into a 3vs4 situation. Once the gk is offering himself for a pass in the attacking zone, it turns into 3vs4. In this case the opponent's striker is allowed to help in defence to get an equal number for both sides.

i have no idea who is the author of this rule but it's the dumbest thing i've ever read. we play 3-men-def-rule, right? attacking with 4 players is a risk, that's why few teams do it, we should be allowed to take that risk to have higher chances to either score a goal or concede one. this rule doesn't give us that opportunity, we can't call 3def a 3def if striker is allowed to actually defend. i've been playing on 3def for years, it was always like that, everyone knows that, just remove that stupid rule and we're all happy.

Thats how the original rule in HBC was intended to be, creating equal numbers while de-crowding the area.
attacking with 4 players is a risk, that's why few teams do it, we should be allowed to take that risk to have higher chances to either score a goal or concede one. this rule doesn't give us that opportunity, we can't call 3def a 3def if striker is allowed to actually defend.

no rule and nobody hinders you to attack with four players, if you want to do it, do it! Allowing it to be 4v3 is not really fair, isnt it

of course it is fair, we call it a 3-def-men rule for a reason, it's not a 3def anymore if you can defend with 4 players

I actually agree with wrozbita, playing 4v4 in such a small area is chaos. The negatives outweigh the positives of taking the risk of attacking with 4, meaning 95% of teams won't make that risk. Haxball is a very limited game, we shouldn't be limiting the variation of tactics as well

lol i didn't even know you could defend with 4 players until now if the enemy team are playing with 2-2 formation in attack, but i completely agree with wrozbita here. It's a really high risk strategy that's why you only see it used as a last resort in the final minutes to comeback from the game.

there is enough risk playing 2-2 anyway so why do you need to make it more useless? rules are created to make the game more fun and fair, not to make it slow and boring.
im playing 4-4 for over 3 years (well thats not rlly a lot compared to you but still) and never so anyone playing according to this rule.
