Nations Cup - North/South England?

Postby naby » January 8th, 2012, 12:55 am

For the Nations Cup, simply put, would you embrace a North and a South England team?

My argument FOR:

England has a much larger volume of players, and there is at least 10 quality English players who could walk into a Division 1 side, do you really want these players left OUT of a competition such as this?

North + South divide only adds 5 more players but it splits the country into two and there's much less players eligible for a single team.

This isn't football, this is an online flash game - we're here to have fun. Our rules do not in any way associate with Football, which is a worldwide sport involving millions and has official Associations policing individual countries' leagues and competitions. Surely splitting the country into a North/South divide is better for the competition?

As for the non-English players arguing it gives England two chances to win, this is irrelevant. We wouldn't be England, We'd be North England and South England.

As a Northerner, I wouldn't want South England to win any more than Scotland or Ireland. We'd still be competing against each other with the same competetive values if not even more elevated by us being neighbours. I'd say the competition between North/South is much greater and interesting than England vs Scotland.

DISCUSS.

Nope, for once I'm being mature and I feel like the reasons I gave are pretty valid. I haven't seen a valid reason against the split that's not childish. Care to provide?

Along with this, like the rugby nations, there should just be ireland, instead of being split in two.
No irish person will want the 2 teams while the only 2 from the north are both irish and will both refuse to play on northern ireland.

Tbh I say scrap this tournament and move onto season 3.
1. Not everyone has to participate for their countries.
2. Once a certain nation has won they gain the *right* to be cocky and say their country is better rarara and it will cause conflict.
3. Too much tension and segregation in the league will occur.
4. This is a Haxball community and we should stick to that, leave nationality, religion, etc... all that bullshit out of it.
5. If ya want create a cup and create your own customised teams and play like that.
6. But we all know comparing countries will lead to abuse, hatred and all the negative stuff.
7. Scrap the cup.

The whole point of a NATIONS cup it's that it is represented by whole nations and not country's being split up. Your argument about there being lots of players for England and there should be two teams is pointless to take part in a nations tournament you have to be the best of what's available that's what makes the tournament good so your point of letting england split will make it a better tournament is invalid. Having more players should be seen as an advantage as you have a better pool of players to choose from you want to split that up putting england at a disadvantage.

Also North England and South England = England so no your point is irrelevant.

And for the last point your are just talking shit

Not at all, it's allowing more people to play, making it more representative and there is genuine rivalry between the two areas.

I'm sure Scotland would rather play England than Northern England.

Cam, i dont doubt the rivalry. But as an irishman, playing southern england is ruining the whole tournement for me. Dont see any rivalry in that. Defeats the purpose of nations

Scotland - CircleBoy/Aidan
Wales - Deerhaunter99

Captains next to nations. People make themselves known to the captains that they're eligible to play for that country due to being from their or footballs grandparent rule then captains will pick a 5 man squad for it.

At the end of the day, theres a month before this could happen, so everyone just chill out now.

of course it bloody matters Cam. The tournement is based on rivalry. It shouldnt be allowed, it shouldnt be up for democracy either. Its a nations cup, shouldnt be ruined by popular vote from people who worry that they wont get the 5 places being fought for by 40 people. Dont see arteta whining about spain coz he isnt good enough but is for anyother country
