Matchday 7 review

Postby Guest » October 25th, 2011, 2:04 pm

Sunday saw an enthralling night of haxball played, where the quality was second to none. There were some key games for all teams involved, with reverse fixtures taking place on Thursday night. Cathletico were the team who sat out of it all, and they can have a good rest before getting back to the action again. But, even a neutral would be able to admit that the gameplay was hard to take your eyes off...

Circle's Boy's 12-2 Leftovers

CircleBoy's went on a rampage of goals against a Leftovers side who are yet to pick up a point. They were going into this game on the back of a 3-1 win again the Socerettes, whilst the Leftovers previously lost 5-1 to Cathletico.

CircleBoy's started brightly, dominating possession, and keeping the ball remained in the Leftovers third of the pitch. On 1:£4, CircleBoy's broke the deadlock. V-11 picked up a loose ball, and looked to play it into the path of DEVINURDOG. However, it took a huge deflection off Griffin, then off Joey, and in. A minute later and CircleBoy's were still dominating possession in the middle of the park. Eventually, the ball was in the Leftovers penalty area, where DEVINURDOG to cleverly square the ball for V-11 to tap in.

Shortly afterwards, 4fun got a wall bounce wrong, leading to a good chance for DEVINURDOG to slot home, which he did. Straight afterwards, play resumed, but DEVINURDOG picked up a ball in the middle of the pitch, wallbounced 4fun, and played a good ball forward to V-11, who tapped it into the net.

Halftime soon came, and it was very much a one sided game. During the interval, Aidan replaced V-11. After a minute into the half, DEVINURDOG played a ball down the flanks to Aidan. He was through on goal, and turned, ready to shoot. Unfortunately though, he lagged out, so the chance went. Leftovers broke up the pitch though, and Griffin got onto a loose ball and finished into an empty net. V-11 was then brought back on again for Aidan.

Some good play in the corner of the Leftover's half from DEVINURDOG nearly found it's way towards goal. His shot hit the post, and came back out to V-11, who shot into the corner of the net before the oncoming 4Fun could safe. This was just the beginning of what was to be a huge onrush of goals.

DEVINURDOG immediately followed it up, pouncing on a mistake from 4Fun and guiding the ball home. Then a clearance from CircleBoy following a Leftovers attack found it's way to V-11, who squared the ball to DEVINURDOG to finish home neatly. Immediately after the kick off, CircleBoy's attacked again, in the corner of the Leftover's half. 4Fun attempted a wall bounce on DEVINURDOG, but it deflected off DEVIN and went straight in again.

Yet another goal came when DEVINURDOG crossed into V-11, who shot straight at 4Fun, but DEVINURDOG followed through with the rebounding to slot home. To their credit, the Leftover's immediately replied from kick off, a good ball eventually being slotted home by 4Fun.

But some more play in the corner of the Leftover's half was followed by a mistake from 4Fun, and V-11 was on hand to score again. Yet again, the Leftover's lost the ball straight from kick off, with DEVINURDOG latching onto a loose kick off pass by Mick, and broke free to score. There was to be one last goal on 4:19, with CircleBoy played a great defence-splitting pass towards V-11's angular running, and he fired home.

For the rest of the game, each team shut each other out. When the final whistle blew though, it was greeted with delight from the CircleBoy's whilst the Leftovers keep looking for a first point again. Both with play each other again on Thursday. Final score CircleBoy's 12-2 Leftovers

Deja Entendude 3-0 Socerettes

It won't go down in the history books, but this game had its moments, with Deja ultimately coming out on top against the Socerettes. Deja had previously lost 6-1 to NWA, whilst the Socerettes were looking to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat against CircleBoy's.

GOKU put Deja ahead on 1:47. He was involved in some great play between rising and himself, where he played a ball across to rising, who held it up well, before returning the ball which resulting in GOKU firing into the back of the net.

For the rest of the half, it was end to end stuff, with many chances being created by both teams, in particular a good attacking piece of play from the Socerettes just before the half time interval. But it remained at 1-0.

Midway through the second half, a mix up in defence saw the ball backcannoning off NavJuve, socrates and rising numerous times, before a last deflection off rising found its way into the net.

GOKU then put the icing on the cake from Deja close to the end, when his formidable partnership with rising worked again. rising played a great ball across to him, and he sent the keeper the wrong way before finishing cooly.

A good win then for Deja Entendudes, whilst the Socerettes will need to do better in the reverse fixture on Thursday evening. Final score Deja Entendudes 3-0 Socerettes

ARRIBA 1-1 NWA

A great game of football played, between to of the best side in the league. Points would been ever so much for both teams, especially against each other.

ARRIBA showed their attacking intent all throughout the first half. jonny got forward a lot too, and ARRIBA created quite a few chances to score.

On 3:52 though, ARRIBA took the lead. A mistake from Chef, which was perhaps related to lag, was pounced on by deerhaunter. He tapped it into an empty net. For the rest of the half, ARRIBA kept possession of the ball well.

At half time, mc smiley replaced thor91. It paid dividends straight away, when mc smiley picked up the ball in the middle of ARRIBA's half. With lots off space, he immediately took a shot, and it ended up in the back of the net, with Ghost rather off guard. Game on then! NWA were ecstatic and did not hide their joy at the equalizer.

A cross from mc smiley was met by Rachel, who nearly scored but for Ghost's save. From then on though, ARRIBA piled on the pressure, creating some good chances. But NWA held out for a 1-1 draw, and showed their delight at the end.

So then, expect much more of the same if not better from both teams on Thursday night. They'll both be looking to claim the points. Final score ARRIBA 1-1 NWA.

That was the closing to the first half of what has been a brilliant season so far. Goals have been a plenty, and there's been no shortage of shocks and great displays. Shock of the week: My last ditch save and then 3 further saves in the last 30 seconds to hold on to a point not even being mentioned in the match report.

Why would Chef randomly run to the bottom of the screen allowing Deer to tap the ball in?
