Matchday 2 review

Matchday 2 review

Postby Guest » October 8th, 2011, 12:44 am

Following a brilliant opening first day of matchdays, Thursday promised to be another treat in store, as they second round of matches were to be played. So, let's see how they all got on...

Cathletico 2-1 Deja

An end to end affair of a game, which revolved mainly around the firt half. Blazing was quick out of the blocks to capitalize on a slight defensive error created by Alec Baldwin, and so he calmly tucked the ball away. 1-0 Cathletico! However, his efforts were to be undone as, he unfortunately diverted a dangerous cross into his own net. There was good attitude though, as Cath's team instantly picked themselves up. That paid off when Maddude equalized before half time with a good finish. In the second half, there was not much, both teams doing their utmost best to keep each other out. There were a couple of good chances, like Maddude's decent effort that hit the post. Eventually though, Cathletico's hold out for an important victory, and now they really can get their season underway.

ARRIBA 7-1 Leftovers

Leftovers took a shock lead when 4fun deflected in a ball being played upfield by jonny. deerhaunter instanly equalized for them though, with a neat finish. Ghost then put them ahead with a gaping goal ahead of him. Then the leftovers went close to equalizing, but Joey's shot wasn't powerful enough. deerhaunter scored twice before haltime after poor defending. Neat passing at the start of the second half led to a tap in from deer. Another, similar great piece of play brought out another easy tap in for deer. Deer then spurned an easy chance against the post, but made amends for it, but tricking the keeper and finishing well, which completed the scoring. A convincing victory for ARRIBA then, but results are yet to arrive for the Leftovers team.

Socerettes 3-4 NWA

A slight defensive mistakes led to a big deflection for him to concede early on, giving the advantage to NWA. It was immediately followed up with a good effort for thor91. It remained that way until the halftime interval. Instantly, Socerettes scored an open goal, after lag was with thor91. mcsmiley was introduced and he scored with the simplist of tap ins. They then added a second afterwards. socrates then had a shot that hit off the post, off Chef and in. Game on again. They came even closer to a great comeback, with a superb finish from ace. It was not to be though, as NWA held onto their lead to claim a vital three points, leaving Socerettes to a second defeat.

Goal of matchday 2: Ace's ACE finish to fool Chef
Player of matchday 2: deerhaunter99 for his excellent six goal display
Shock of matchday 2: the Leftovers taking a 1-0 lead. It was short lived though.

Woah, it's quite alte now, and I have a game in Shrewsbury in the morning, I'd better leave it there for matchday 2! :D

For your goal of the week, maybe you should have a GIF of the goal in question.
